Isabel Englebert x LG OLED | AFFAIR #3

August 26-31, 2025
Central AFFAIR, Buenos Aires

LG OLED ART presents "Who is J. Doe?", an immersive interactive installation by post-conceptual artist Isabel Englebert.
Since founding her studio in 2012, Englebert has pursued multidisciplinary projects at the intersection of art, science, technology, and philosophy. The work draws upon the American use of “John Doe” and “Jane Doe” as placeholders for unidentified individuals, unfolding as a meditation on universal anonymity. Through images and technical devices, the installation reflects on the fluidity of identity, inviting viewers to encounter the mutable nature of the self through a digital play of shifting fragments.

At this art fair, LG OLED’s self-emissive technology amplifies Englebert’s exploration of identity. Fragmented faces appear vividly connected, dissolving boundaries between viewer and image. The luminous clarity of OLED transforms the screen into a contemporary canvas, allowing audiences not merely to observe but to participate within the work itself.

"Who is J. Doe?" was shown as part of AFFAIR, a fair uniting contemporary art galleries across Argentina, held at CENTRAL AFFAIR, Buenos Aires, from August 26 to 31. The 2025 edition of AFFAIR, developed around the theme the other, the partner, emphasized collaborative models and the expansion of networks in the art field. Englebert’s installation, realized on three LG OLED evo TVs, highlighted the resonance of art and technology in creating immersive contemporary experiences.
